All units in Latin America operate incentive programs in this area that focus on identifying the risks and developing solutions. One example of that is the program
"Keeping an eye on the risks", which is applied in Poços de Caldas, Itapissuma and São Luís (Alumar). The best employee suggestions relating to workplace safety are assessed by a team of analysts and may become internal safety norms.
For Alcoa it is important to maintain an incident-free working environment. Because of that the company adopts preventive measures that contribute to achieving a zero rate of occurrences of this type. In 2005, this was achieved in 12 locations in South America.
